SEAN VANDERSLUIS

PhD Student

Sean earned his BSc. in honours biochemistry at McMaster University in 2018. He completed an internship at the Centre for Drug Research and Development conducting drug discovery to treat neuroinflammatory disease like ALS. A second internship was done at McMaster where his project was focused on cancer drug discovery.

This ignited his interest in the pharmaceutical industry, and he obtained his Masters in Biomedical Technology from the Cumming School of Medicine. This MBA style masters focused on business development and project management aspects of drug development. After graduating Sean worked in clinical trial management for a biotech company as well as business development for a tech startup before joining the Bhatia Program. The translational approach where discoveries have direct effects on patients attracted Sean to the program.

Fun fact: Sean has summitted over 35 mountains!
