GENA MARKOUS

Gena received her BSc. in honours biology at the University of Waterloo in 2018. She gained an interest in the molecular biology of human cancers through several co-op positions at the Hospital for Sick Children and Michigan State University.

Her masters project focuses on the rescue of an essential signalling molecule, GSK-3, in HSCs following pre-leukemia and AML initiation.  Gena enjoys that there is a sense of research freedom here and there are very little limits as far as research tools goes. She enjoys the discussions with people of diverse scientific backgrounds.

When Gena isn’t running her next experiment you can find her reading, baking, rock climbing or taking photos of her pet rabbit.
